Ahead of Saturday's season opener, we take a look back at our pre-season campaign, in which Town recorded five wins out of six.
Knaresborough were first up as Manager Simon Weaver handed debuts to all seven summer signings in a comprehensive 7-0 win. Goals came from six different scorers, including pacey new addition Brendan Kiernan and Captain Josh Falkingham. The following fixture, Town welcomed Darlington to The CNG Stadium in what was a tightly contested fixture. Goals by Town number nine Mark Beck and versatile defender Warren Burrell were enough to keep the Quakers at bay, winning 2-1.
Beck would go on to have an impressive pre-season, scoring four goals and so often being a reliable outlet for Town.
It was his goal in the 82nd minute which was the difference against third pre-season opponent Guiseley. Beck climbed highest to head home the winner into the bottom left corner.
The West Yorkshire outfit made Town work hard as chances were scarce, but Town left with the victory and a clean sheet.
New strike partner Jon Stead got in on the action in the 3-1 victory over Farsley Celtic; The big man looking to build on an impressive career, scoring 135 league goals in 450 appearances.
Stead was a nuisance to the Farsley defence, getting his reward when winning and converting a penalty to seal Town's fourth pre-season win in a row.
Town's only away trip of pre-season would take them north to Gateshead. The contest would end in a narrow defeat for Town with a 23rd minute penalty being the difference.
However, there were many positives to take with left back George Smith impressing with his energy and final ball.
The concluding chapter of this year's pre-season was a 4-0 triumph against Spennymoor. A blistering first half display of attacking football saw Town run out of sight, with Kiernan, Will Smith, Joe Leesley and Beck claiming the goals.
