Thomson Looks Ahead to 2019/20 Season

2 August 2019

We spoke to midfielder George Thomson who is preparing for a second season at National League level…

“I felt it was a really good season, especially with it being our first season at this level.

“As the season went on and we saw the position we were in I think come the end we would have liked to have just been able to go that one step further and go up again, which would have been unbelievable, but when you look back at it as a whole it was a really good season and hopefully this year we can progress a little bit more.

“Looking at it now we will be disappointed if we don't get in the Play-offs like we did last year and then hopefully once we have done that we can push on and see if we can go up.

“After a full season at National League level you now know what to expect a little bit more and are more aware of the challenges.

“In our first season teams would come here and they would sit back, whereas in the National League North they would come at you and we could pick them off a little bit easier.

“We have just got to adapt our game to that, that's individually as well as a collective, hopefully we can do that this year and get some good results on the back of it.

“The competition for places we have in the squad pushes everybody when you have cover or options in every single position.

“It pushes everyone not only in matches but in training as well day in day out, people know that if they are not on it then someone else will be.”

The full interview with George, plus much more exclusive content, will be available in Saturday's bigger, newer version of #AboutTown.
