Town fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Dover Athletic as an Inih Effiong brace was enough to earn all three points and maintain the visitors 100% away record.
Buoyed by a return of four points from their Bank Holiday fixtures it was the home side who made the running early on with Jack Muldoon testing Lee Worgan from the edge of the area having been set up well by Mark Beck.Hitting back, the Whites had a double chance on 15 minutes but midfielder Jack Munns saw his shot go well wide after James Belshaw had initially saved low to his right.
After 19 minutes Town forward Mark Beck saw his name go into the book following a late challenge on Dover captain Kevin Lokko. Town stepped up the pressure though and it was Muldoon who once again went close. His powerful shot from outside of the box tested Morgan's reactions in the Dover goal.
The first half saw little further opportunity as both sides struggled to break down their opponents and take control of the contest.
Town received a warning immediately after the break when the dangerous Effiong clipped the outside of the post from short range, following this up minutes later with a shot that went narrowly wide.
The home side began to settle into their stride though with Connor Hall's looping header testing Worgan and Scott Brown's strike being deflected wide.
It was the visitors who made the breakthrough however when Effiong rose to convert former Town midfielder Michael Woods' cross beyond James Belshaw on 69 minutes for his fourth goal of the season.
Simon Weaver immediately sprang into action, introducing Joe Leesley, Sam Jones and Jon Stead in an attempt to rescue something from the game.
Despite the changes, Town struggled to make inroads into the visitors defence and with the clock ticking down Effiong struck again to seal the win and consign Town to their fourth defeat of the season.
