Goals from Lloyd Kerry, Jack Muldoon (2) and Josh Falkingham ensured Town's final home fixture of the decade ended in a victory as Hartlepool were beaten 4-1 at The CNG Stadium.
After a first half with little chances, Town turned on the style in the second half, scoring three times in a 15 minute spell to put them in full control of the tie.Nicke Kabamba's goal looked like it could set up a nervy finish, but Muldoon's audacious stoppage time finish put the icing on the cake and sealed an impressive win.
Simon Weaver made three changes from Saturday's trip to Boreham Wood as Jack Emmett, Jon Stead and Jack Diamond returned to the starting line-up, taking the place of Mitch Hancox, George Thomson and Brendan Kiernan.
Stead was straight into the action, closing down an under hit back pass and picking out Diamond before forcing a good save from Pools keeper Ben Killip when the ball came back the way of Town's number 16.
The visitors created a chance of their own just minutes later though with Captain Ryan Donaldson unable to convert Peter Kioso's low cross at the back post.
The early flurry of chances wouldn't continue though, with a couple of Gime Toure long range effort that didn't trouble James Belshaw the only action of a fairly uneventful first half.
Town came flying out the blocks for the second half and, despite Stead heading a good early chance wide, took the lead when Town's frontman picked out Kerry inside the box, from where the midfielder took a touch before blasting past Killip.
Four minutes later Town were given the chance to double their lead, again through the good work of Stead who was brought down inside the penalty box, prompting Referee Sam Barrott to point to the spot.
Muldoon emphatically despatched the spot kick in off the underside of the bar, claiming his eighth goal of the season.
Weaver's side didn't stop at two with Captain Falkingham getting among the goals, providing a deft finish to turn Diamond's low cross past Killip in the 68th minute.
With just under 15 minutes to play, substitute Kabamba set up an interesting finish, converting from close range after Town failed to clear a low cross from the left.
As expected, Dave Challinor's side piled men forward in search of another goal that would set up a grandstand finish, but Pools found Belshaw in fine form, twice saving at his near post to avoid a nervy ending.
With the tie just entering stoppage time, Town scored the final goal of the afternoon as Muldoon carried the ball over the half way line before lifting the ball over Killip to seal an emphatic win.
