Academy take on Ossett United

19 February 2019

On Friday 15th February our U14/15 Academy side took on Ossett United at The CNG Stadium in the latest of our Player Development Centre fixtures.

Town started well and took the lead on the sixth minute when Joe Payette found himself unmarked in the box and fired into the bottom corner.

Frank Greenwood was called into action soon after in the Town goal with a brilliant one handed stop to deny the Ossett striker, then coming to claim a cross at the edge of his own box.

Town doubled their lead minutes later when Ethan Simpson pressed the goalkeeper's kick and was able to tap the ball in.

Tom Addley came off the bench to add Town's third and fourth; his second coming after a pinpoint Danny Wilson cross.

Addley then turned provider when his through ball sent Payette one on one with the keeper, where the attacker slipped it past the keeper to add Town's fifth.

The same two combined for towns first goal of the second half as Payette completed his hat-trick.

Sam Wright-Manzano was next to get his name on the score sheet when his 25 yard effort looped over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

A Wilson header after a Nathan Young corner, as well as two more goals from Addley completed an impressive nights work for the young Town side.
