Barrow Preview

22 March 2019

Town will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday with a trip to in-form Barrow.

Ian Evatt's side have won their last three matches, two of which impressively were at top seven sides Wrexham and Eastleigh, leaving The Bluebirds nine points adrift of the Play-Off places.

The former Blackpool man has set his players the ambitious challenge of winning their remaining seven matches of his first campaign in charge, starting at Holker Street on Saturday.

Barrow haven't fared too well against Town in recent times though, winning none of the last six meetings in normal time, the last of which was at The CNG Stadium in October when Simon Weaver's side ran out 4-2 winner.

Highlights

Goals are normally a given when the two sides come together with both sides netting in each of the last six meetings, though Barrow have scored the least of all top half National League sides.

Tuesday night's defeat at Barnet ended a run of five unbeaten for Town and was the first time Weaver's side had failed to find the target since December.

Despite the shut-out, Town remain the league's top scorers and in good form; with only two teams picking up more points over the last ten games.

Barrow meanwhile have lost just two of their last ten and would be sixth over the last 20 fixtures, though have only won three of their last ten National League matches at Holker Street.

Saturday's hosts' main goal threat comes through Jack Hindle, who is in double figures for the season, but comes up against a defence that has conceded just twice in the last six matches, while Defender Dan Jones' recent form was rewarded midweek with an England C call-up.
