We are delighted to welcome our second Summer signing to The CNG Stadium, Scott Brown.
The midfielder joins from Accrington Stanley, where the 34-year-old made 37 appearances in League One last season, having helped Stanley to the League Two title the previous year.
Brown began his career at Everton, where he was a teammate of Wayne Rooney, before spending three years at Bristol City, finishing runners-up in League One during that time.
Town's new addition's ability was evident from an early age, with Brown having represented England from U15 through to U19 level.
The central midfielder has also represented Port Vale, Morecambe and Fleetwood over a career that has included over 350 senior appearances across League One, League Two, The National League and National League North with five promotions in that time.
One of those promotions came for Brown's next club York City, who he helped reach League Two, before lifting the National North with Chester, having turned out for Macclesfield in between the two.
The Runcorn-born midfielder then made the move to Southport in July 2013 where he would go on to be named their Player of the Year for the 2013/14 season.
Eighteen months at Grimsby followed for Brown, before he was reunited with his Manager at Southport John Coleman at Accrington.
We would like to welcome Scott to the club and look forward to seeing him in action in pre-season at The CNG Stadium.
The transfer is subject to FA and National League approval on 1st July 2019.
