The U13 academy side took on a well drilled and physical Stockton team on Friday 24th May at The CNG Stadium.
This was only the second time the boys had played 11-a-side, so was a real tactical test for them. This was reflected in Stockton's goal, as Town lost the ball high up the pitch, enabling Stockton to break and find a gap in Town's defensive set up and go 1-0 with a great finish from the striker.
After the team talk at the break regarding the defensive shape, Town started to look comfortable and solid defensively.
The boys continued to dominate possession but struggled to create any real chances, showing slight hesitation to pull the trigger and get their shots off.
This was a huge learning experience for the boys as it showed that the team who has all the ball and possession, doesn't always come out with the win.
The boys learnt that being clinical with their chances is the difference between winning and losing.
Special mentions to Alfie Lee, Harry Washbrook & Johannes Shaw for excellent performances.
