Bromley 3 Town 3

16 November 2019

Town couldn't stop league leaders Bromley launching a comeback from three goals down and limiting them to a point at Hayes Lane.

Simon Weaver's side had raced ahead thanks to goals from Jack Emmett, Brendan Kiernan and a Jack Muldoon penalty, though Chris Bush struck before the half time whistle to give his side hope.

Reeco Hackett-Fairchild reduced the deficit to one three minutes after the restart, before Bush popped up again, firing a low drive through the bodies and in on 73 minutes.

Both sides searched for a winner in the remaining half an hour, though Bromley found James Belshaw in inspired form, the Harrogate stopper making a string of excellent saves to ensure his side left with a point.

Warren Burrell missed out due to the injury suffered against Portsmouth, being replaced by Emmett, who made his first league start in two months.

Town started on the front foot and dominated the opening ten minutes as Jack Diamond fired over before Mark Beck forced the first save from Ryan Huddart.

Town got the goal their start deserved after 12 minutes when Emmett raced onto a short back pass, rounded Huddart and rolled into an empty net.

Bromley responded with some sustained pressure on the Town goal, but Hackett-Fairchild couldn't hit the target with his finish, before Connor Hall stopped Frankie Raymond's strike going any further with a headed block.

It would be Town who struck next though as Muldoon's pass found the run of Kiernan, who slid a left footed finish past Huddart to mark his return to Hayes Lane with a goal.

Three minutes later Town were awarded a penalty when Diamond chased down what looked to be a lost cause, drawing Huddart out of his goal to foul the Town winger.

Muldoon stepped up and arrowed a low effort to the 'keeper's right, putting Town in dreamland at the National League leaders.

There was time in the first half for Bromley to find the net though as, despite Belshaw keeping out Bush's free kick as well as the follow up, Hackett-Fairchild was able to bundle home.

It could have been a one goal lead for Town going into the break as Sam Wood rifled an effort off the cross bar in the last action of an action packed first 45 minutes.

Bromley took just three minutes to hit the net in the second half, Bush firing a low shot through the bodies after a goalmouth scramble was not cleared well enough.

The home side continued the pressure, but were met by an inspired Belshaw who made to excellent saves in as many minutes, including one high to his left to keep out Bush's free kick.

Despite Town reminding the hosts of their attacking threat through Kiernan and Josh Falkingham's near misses, Bromley pulled level in the 73rd minute.

After his initial free kick was blocked by the Town wall, Bush got his head to Frankie Raymond's curling delivery and cushioned a header in off the post.

Full back Joe Kizzi had the chance to surely win it for his side five minutes from time as he was picked out from Raymond's corner, but couldn't guide his header under the bar.
