An injury-time own goal from Josh Staunton earned Town a valuable point in a hard fought Yorkshire derby at The CNG Stadium.
Town fell behind twice and saw Warren Burrell shown a straight red card in the dying minutes but the last gasp equaliser was no more than they deserved for a spirited second half performance.Liam McAlinden's 11th minute penalty after Will Smith had tripped Jeff King saw the visitors take the lead but Matty Brown diverted George Thomson's cross into his own net to level in the 54th minute with Town sensing another home victory.
They again fell behind, against the run of play, through Cameron King's 74th minute strike that looked to have earned Halifax another away win but Town's persistence paid off to maintain their excellent recent run.
Simon Weaver made one change to the starting line-up from Saturday's 3-1 victory over Chesterfield, with Thomson replacing Brendan Kiernan, whilst Jon Stead made a return to the bench following his return from suspension.
The early stages saw a tentative affair with both sides feeling each other out, but the game was enlivened by Halifax's opener and the visitors almost added a second through McAlinden when his long run after 23 minutes resulted in James Belshaw saving smartly to his left.
Their best outlet for the home side during the opening half was the combination of Thomson and Ryan Fallowfield and down the right hand side but with little opportunity on offer for either Jack Muldoon or Mark Beck, the latter who had netted twice already against Halifax this season in both league and cup victories.
The second half saw a Town performance with more purpose and they were rewarded through a deserved equaliser. Town then looked the more likely of the two to come away with the points with Thomson almost netting a second with a header that flashed wide.
Late on, Weaver threw on Kiernan and Stead in a bid to rescue the game but Town were reduced to ten men when Burrell was harshly sent off as full-time approached.
They were not to be denied though when under pressure from the Town attack, Staunton turned the ball into his own net to level the game.
