On a cold Friday evening at The CNG Stadium Town U8/9 academy came up against one of the biggest clubs in the world, Manchester United.
The game got off to a great start with both teams showing some excellent attacking football.Town got the first break through with an excellent cross from Bobby, with Freddie White finishing exquisitely. Man United were starting to grow into the game, with a few touches of class form their wingers.
Town came out from the break with two quick fire goals firstly from Jenson followed by Isaiah.
The away keeper was pulling off some outstanding saves and making sure the game wasn't getting away from United.
Town won a freekick on the edge of the area which Henry Wardle finished off superbly.
This didn't stop Man United, their determination to try get back into the game came soon after Town's fourth of the game to pull one back.
Heading into the last 20 minutes of the match, Isaiah was on the score sheet again, grabbing two quick fire goals to complete his hattrick.
That wasn't enough from Town as they kept pressing for more, with Isaiah grabbing his fourth of the game and Towns seventh.
Town then switched off in the final moments of the game as a defensive mix and a superb goal for United meant the game finished 7-3.
The fixture was a great showcase for junior football and shows that the PDC and academy are
heading in the right direction.
It was the perfect opportunity for our players to test themselves and more importantly, to enjoy the experience.
