Aldershot Preview

23 October 2019

After an impressive victory in FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round at National league rivals Halifax, Town are now eight unbeaten in all competitions.

Simon Weaver's side could increase that number to nine as they welcome Aldershot to The CNG Stadium on Saturday.

Aldershot would have been relegated last season to the National League South after finishing 21st on 44 points, however, the demotion of Gateshead meant avoiding the drop.

Danny Searle's side currently lie 19th in the table, two points above the relegation zone having won one of their last five games, 4-0 against Dover.

Aldershot have five wins under their belt this season, with three coming on the road, at Woking, Ebbsfleet and Stockport.

The Shots have scored a total of 17 goals this season and have conceded 23, goals have been shared around the team with midfielder Ethan Chislett topping the chart with four.

Town's last five league fixtures bare much better reading than earlier in the season, having accumulated 13 points from a possible 15; scoring eight, conceding two and keeping three clean sheets in the process.

The away side's boss is 41-year-old Searle who joined in May 2019 following half a season in charge of Braintree Town.

Harrogate have come out on top in both previous encounters with Saturday's opponents. A 2-0 away victory was followed by a 4-1 win thanks to an extraordinary hat trick from Warren Burrell and an added time goal from Jack Muldoon.

A win for Town could see them climb as high as fourth, potentially only three points away from top spot.
