Burrell Looks Ahead to Aldershot Clash

25 October 2019

We caught up with Warren Burrell on last season's hat-trick against today's opposition, our recent run of form and a move back to central midfield...

"Scoring the hat trick and getting the win last time Aldershot came to The CNG Stadium made it a fantastic day for myself and the team. We were going to Dublin afterwards for our Christmas do so to get the hat trick and then get straight to the airport made it a very good day. The first was a bit of a tap in at the near post then two headers from set pieces, I didn't do anything I don't normally do on corners, just timed my run, got my head to it and thankfully they went in.

"The mood is upbeat at the moment, but it was even when we weren't winning the games because we've got a good set of lads who keep positive. We have gone away to teams up there in the league where we want to be like Yeovil and Halifax and we have been really difficult to play against, done our jobs and got the right result. Even when we weren't at the races at Wrexham we were able to come away with a point, which is always a good point there. If we can keep performing to the best of our ability, we can climb up the league which is our aim right now.

"Personally the central midfield role is a different role, but one I am suited to doing, it's one I have done before and I am enjoying it. In defence you can't take any sort of chances and any sort of mistake gets punished nine times out of ten, but playing in midfield you have a little bit more freedom. I am trying to spot danger earlier and having played at the back I know which areas you feel most exposed as a defender so if I can help by getting in certain positions then that is going to help the team."
