U17s Season Update

31 October 2019

U17s Manager Josh Walsh updates us on how his U17 side have fared in the early stages of the season…

The U17s have got their league campaign off to a great start winning four from four, with 34 goals scored and only three conceded.

With the majority of the squad in their second season having joined last year as U16s, it is pleasing to see the individual progression each player has made.

Aside from the league we had a good result in the FA Youth Cup, scoring eight against Emley at The CNG Stadium before losing out to a very good South Shields side.

Although not the result we wanted, it was a great occasion for the lads to give them a taste of what the standard is like higher up the pyramid. With over 250 in attendance it was a great occasion and brilliant opportunity for them.

The progression into higher age groups is the best it has ever been at the club. Ethan Thorpe and Adam Kellett have both made appearances for Josh Falkingham's U23s with Kellett getting on the score sheet.

Harry Lee has started two games for Paul Barkers U21s with Alex Hields, Malaki Mason and Gabe Hopkinson also making appearances.

It feels like there is always something for the players to look forward to and progress into.

The next month will be tough - with the lads playing a lot of football, but we will be looking to maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves.

Up next for the U17s is a cup tie at Elland Juniors on Sunday 3rd November, before a trip to North East Leeds JFC on 24th November.
