Maidenhead Preview

19 September 2019

Town face Maidenhead on Saturday hoping for the same outcome as their only two previous meetings with The Magpies, both of which ended in Town wins.

Kelvin Langmead's late goal secured the points in Town's only previous trip to York Road, before Mark Beck's only goal of the game settled the tie when the clubs last crossed paths.

Highlights

Alan Devonshire's side have made a good start to their third season at National League level and sit in the Play-Off places after 11 matches.

Saturday's hosts will be looking to recapture their early season form having now gone three matches without a win, knowing they could return to fourth place with three points this weekend.

While Town were playing out a goalless draw with Boreham Wood, Maidenhead lost out 1-0 at Barnet, the only team to have conceded less than Devonshire's side this season.

The 2016/17 National League South Champions have not had as good a defensive record at home however, not keeping a clean sheet in their last five and only recording one win during that time.

Up front, Danny Whitehall and Jake Cassidy will be hoping to carry on providing the goals and see Maidenhead build on last season's 19th placed finish, having netted a combined seven already this campaign.

Town meanwhile remain within touching distance of the league's top ten and will be hoping for a display similar to that at Barrow earlier in the season, their only away win of 2019/20 so far.

Simon Weaver's side have kept two clean sheets in their five matches away from home, though have conceded nine times in the other three, albeit three of those goals arriving when down to ten men at Torquay.

Having been dismissed at Plainmoor, Jon Stead is back available for selection and looking to pick up where he left off having scored his first two Town goals in his last outing.
