Sutton United Preview

26 September 2019

Town return to The CNG Stadium this Saturday to face Sutton United after a positive week in which Simon Weaver's side returned with four points from their travels.

Last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Maidenhead was followed up by an impressive 1-0 win away to league leaders Halifax Town as Town now head in to the game on the back of a three-match unbeaten run, with two clean sheets reward for a growing consistency in defence.
Sutton come into the game on the back of Tuesday's 2-0 home defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge, which left them in 19th position in the table. After a five-game unbeaten run to the kick off the 2019/20 season they have won just once in the last eight games.
Manager Matt Gray is in his first season at the helm at Gander Green Lane, making the step up from head coach following the resignation of long-time manager Paul Doswell following last season's tenth-placed finish.
The U's had the distinction of being Town's first opponents at this level, when a late Jamie Collins strike earned the visitors a 2-2 draw after goals from Jack Muldoon and Kelvin Langmead looked to have secured all three points.
They have a blend of youth and experience throughout their squad, with 38 year-old Craig Dundas leading the line since rejoining the club from Havant & Waterlooville. 21 year-old strike partner Aaron Jarvis has hit three goals since his summer move from Luton and 20 year-old defender Ben Goodliffe has featured in every game after arriving from Wolves.
A dangerman for the U's on Saturday though could be Harry Beautyman, who has found the net six times already this season from midfield.
Following a positive last couple of weeks the playoff positions are again within sight and with a number of sides bunched in mid-table, Town know that a continued run of form will see them challenging at the right end of the table.
Standing and seated tickets can be purchased online at a reduced rate up until midnight on Friday 27th September through the below link.
