We can now reveal our first addition to the squad as we prepare for a first season in the Football League... Connor Kirby.
The 21-year-old spent the 2019/20 season on loan in League Two with Macclesfield from Sheffield Wednesday and was named Runner-up in the club's Player of the Year Award.
Kirby made his professional debut for the Owls in April 2018 having joined the Yorkshire side's Academy in 2011, going on to sign professional terms in October 2015 before his time at Hillsborough came to an end in June.
Our newest addition featured prominently in the U18 and U23s set up for Wednesday before catching the eye of Simon Weaver while playing for The Silkmen.
“Connor acquitted himself very well at Macclesfield and had a really impressive season.” Weaver added.
“He's a really energetic centre midfielder who is willing to break forward and put a tackle in, a good all-round, honest, hungry and talented lad.
“He has already shown he can do it in League Two and he'll attack it with confidence, as soon as I met him I thought he would be a great fit for us.”
We would like to welcome Connor to the club and look forward to seeing him in action.
The transfer is subject to EFL and FA approval.
