Tom Walker is Signing Number Three

13 August 2020

We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Tom Walker from AFC Fylde.

The 24-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee, after a release clause in the midfielder's contract was triggered.

Our newest arrival started his footballing journey at Bolton Wanderers and went on to make his debut for The Trotters in 2015, going on to make 18 Championship appearances for his first club.

Walker then featured in League One for Bury where he spent time on loan during the 2016/17 campaign.

After departing Bolton, Walker joined FC United of Manchester where his early performances earned him a move to then National League North Salford City.

Walker would go on to make over 50 appearances for the Ammies and help his side to back to back promotions up to the Football League.

The 2019/20 season saw Walker loaned to Stockport where he contributed six goals in just 15 National League appearances, tempting AFC Fylde to snap up his services on a two-and-a-half year deal in January 2020.

Walker would be an instant hit with the Fylde supporters, scoring a memorable debut goal, but with the season being cut-short due to Covid-19 was unable to steer his new side clear of relegation.

Our new signing may already be a familiar face to Town fans having featured against the club on multiple occasions, most notably scoring what turned out to be the winning goal for Salford in January 2018 at the Peninsula Stadium.

Walker has been capped at England C level and we look forward to welcoming him to The CNG Stadium.

The transfer is subject to EFL and FA approval.
