Forest Left Back Arrives on Loan

10 January 2020

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Nottingham Forest left back Owen Gallacher.

The 20-year-old signs on a month long loan deal and will wear the number 25 shirt while at Town.

Owen came through the ranks at Newcastle United before signing for current club Forest in 2018.

Having impressed in the youth set up at the City Ground, Gallacher was given a new deal last Summer and joins Town for his first loan spell.

“We watched him at Sheffield Wednesday for Forest and I thought he stood out.” Explained Simon Weaver.

“He played really well at left back so we then watched him again against Burnley and again thought he played to the same level, we think he is a very good prospect.

“With Mitch Hancox returning to Solihull we wanted competition for places at left back, Warren has been nailing it there for the last few games, but we want competition for places and I think he'll be a real contender.

“He's a good all-rounder, good on the ball, athletic, strong and can get up and down the pitch well.”

Gallacher will be available for Saturday's trip to Darlington, subject to National League and FA approval.

Gallacher's arrival is the latest in a busy week of player movement at Town, earlier in the week Sam Jones had returned from his loan spell at Solihull Moors, with Hancox going back the other way.

Elsewhere, Joe Leesley's loan spell at Stockport came to an end. The winger will now spend the rest of the season at Stevenage, while Matty Taylor has extended his loan with Kettering for an additional month.
