The ongoing campaign that is promoted and co-ordinated by ‘Keep Britain Tidy' assists volunteers, organisations and businesses do their bit to cut litter and improve public places.
Working in partnership with Harrogate Spring and Harrogate Borough Council, members of Harrogate Town AFC Community Foundation, BTEC Students and First Team squad picked up litter and plastic waste around key public areas in Harrogate.
Harrogate Town AFC Community Manager Iain Service added - “We do live in a lovely place, but Harrogate is not without its challenges. One area which we were happy to assist was the ‘Great British September Clean'.
“The whole idea is fantastic, I know that the individuals that helped us recognise the importance of the campaign. We had over 20 bags of general waste and ten bags of plastics, recovered over a two day period.”
“The areas covered as part of our 38 person litter pick were the Stray and surrounding areas, Wetherby Road and Hookstone Woods. It is unbelievable how much litter was accumulated. It is hoped that Harrogate Town AFC and partners can carry out plenty more community based activities in the near future.”
Health guidelines in relation to Covid-19 were followed throughout the litter pick.
