"To score a goal within five minutes of making my competitive debut, it’s exactly what you want" - Armstrong pre Barrow

20 August 2021

Watch our pre-match interview with Luke Armstrong as we continue to prepare for Saturday's match with Barrow.

Armstrong on scoring on his competitive debut for Town…

As a striker you want to get off to a goal scoring start, as well as playing well. To score a goal within five minutes of making my competitive debut, it's exactly what you want and it gives you confidence and relieves the pressure. You can go out there with no worry of looking for that first goal.

Once you score and build a bit of momentum, sometimes anything that touches you can go in. As a striker you want to get as many goals as you can.

It's always the best feeling in the world hearing the roar from the fans when you score a goal. The fans were brilliant.

On the forced break from action…

We've all been gutted, to be fair. We got off to a great start against Rochdale and won in unbelievable fashion so we wanted to keep it going, but circumstances that we can't control stopped that so it's been frustrating but we've got to move on and forget about it now.

On settling into the group and coming alive on the pitch…

It's been brilliant, they're a fantastic set of lads and I've integrated into the group really well and they've made me feel so welcome.

Yeah I guess I do almost flick a switch when playing. I just do whatever I can to win every ball, chase every ball and you can be a very different person off the pitch to on it.

On targets for the season…

I don't have any particular targets but normally before each season I say 15 goals is good season, 20 is a really good season and anything above that is a bonus really.
