Donovan Wilson's 30th minute finish proved the decisive moment as Harrogate Town fell to a 1-0 defeat at Gander Green Lane.
Omar Bugiel's through ball made the goal and proved too much for Town to come back from, with Sutton goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis making some important second half saves to keep Simon Weaver's side off the score sheet. With no new injuries or positive Covid cases in the camp, Weaver named the same squad that took on Northampton last week.
It was Town who threatened first at Gander Green Lane as Connor Hall headed off target from a corner and George Thomson dragged wide from just outside the area in the opening quarter of an hour.
Sutton would claim the opening goal though with the slickest piece of play of the half, Omar Bugiel sliding the ball through Hall and Warren Burrell to release Wilson, who beat Mark Oxley with a low finish.
A Thomson free kick that flew a couple of yards over the bar was the closest Town came to a first half equaliser, with Weaver's side heading into the break a goal behind.
Like the first half, Town made a bright start to the second 45 with Thomson putting a teasing delivery into the Sutton box, that was well dealt with, before Burrell shot wide from the edge of the area.
Sutton 'keeper Dean Bouzanis was called into action for the first time in the 53rd minute as Thomson's pass found Alex Pattison, whose near post effort was beaten away.
Bouzanis was in action again in the 62nd minute, claiming a header from Hall who had nodded goalwards from Thomson's fizzed corner.
Jack Muldoon and Simon Power were introduced in the second half as Town continued to search for a way back into the game, with the latter driving into the arms of the Sutton keeper shortly after entering the action.
With Town pouring men forward, Sutton threatened through Will Randall, who volleyed past the upright, while at the other end Pattison saw multiple shots blocked.
Bouzanis would deny Town for the last time on the 90-minute mark after Muldoon had headed Ryan Fallowfield's cross at goal, only for the Sutton stopper to make his most impressive save of the game and secure the win for his side.
