We're delighted to announce the loan signing of 19-year-old striker Josh Andrews from Birmingham City.
Standing at 6ft 3inches, Andrews is a powerful striker who is highly rated by those at Birmingham. His size alone makes him a focal point for any attack but Andrews also possesses a good touch and moves well with the ball at his feet.
Andrews joined The Blues in 2009 and has played his way through the age groups, most recently with the under 23s side.
The youngster has scored nine and assisted four for the development side this season and is now looking forward to developing with Simon Weaver's squad...
“I got a phone call last Friday regarding the move and I'm delighted it's happened as it's my first loan move,” Andrews said.
“To come to a club playing league football will be a great experience for me.
“Being a big lad, hold up play is important to me and although it might not look it, I'm actually quite quick so I can get in behind and opponents may not see that coming.
“First team football is what I'm after. It's an increase in intensity and physicality and it's where I want to play. Not only is this a great step in my career but hopefully I can help the club as well.”
Andrews becomes Simon Weaver's seventh signing of the transfer window and the Gaffer is looking forward to having the big man in the squad…
“He's been scoring goals for fun with Birmingham's under 23s, he's a handful and he's reached that stage where he needs to experience first-team football.
“We operate best with a big man and quick man upfront. Injuries have meant this is a great opportunity to bring in a young lad who has a lot of promise,” Weaver added.
“It's his first loan which means it's not about starting every game but adapting to the culture and learning. When Birmingham told me he's the type of lad that's willing to learn, it became a no brainer for us.”
The striker will wear number 31 and will be eligible for Simon Weaver's squad for Saturday's away trip to Crawley Town.
