Town Launch their first ever #TeamTalk session to combat Mental Health

13 January 2021

Harrogate Town AFC and the Community Foundation will be co-ordinating a number of activities during January that encourage people to talk. One of which the first ever Harrogate Town AFC #TeamTalk.

In conjunction with the EFL and Mind, the first #TeamTalk session will be taking place on
Thursday 28th January, 7pm – on Zoom – sign up by emailing
community@harrogatetownafc.com

This will take place virtually, with supporters wherever they may be connecting and conversing about life, health and Harrogate Town.

The whole purpose is to urge supporters to talk and stay connected throughout January and keep the conversation around mental health going.

New research into men's mental health suggests that, while some progress has been made, men feel worried or low more regularly than ten years ago and are consequently twice as likely to feel suicidal.

Iain Service, Community Development Manager explains...

“Now more than ever we need to make sure there are opportunities for people to share experiences and challenges we may have had over the last few weeks and months. Football has the power to bring people together, create conversations and gives people a purpose.

"The new #TeamTalk session will not replace the buzz of a matchday, but will allow a safe place for supporters to feel connected and Proud To Be Town."

Facilitated through Zoom, which can be accessed through a computer, tablet, mobile phone or even landline, participants can listen to special guest speakers and also if they feel comfortable share their own experiences.

Our Supporter Liaison Officer Phill Holdsworth and Club Chaplain Rob Brett will also be joining in. The aim is for this to continue every month.

If you would like further information about the #Team Talk or to book a place, please email: community@harrogatetownafc.com. Upon sign up you will be sent a link that will become live on the 28th January at 7pm.
