Weaver - We have to show the same resolve, effort and energy levels

18 January 2021

We've been speaking to Manager Simon Weaver ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Exeter City at The EnviroVent Stadium...

The Gaffer started by discussing the problems caused by last week's Wintery weather, causing training to be postponed on multiple occasions...

“The squad have been working out on their own and having to text over the times of their runs, they had a double session with a run followed by a session with Fitness Coach Darren Simpson over Zoom, but Sunday was our first day training since the start of the week and it was good to see all the faces back together.”

“We'll have a good squad to choose from on Tuesday, that's for sure, it's not going to be easy with the new protocols in place where you have to leave everyone else at home who's not in the matchday squad, so there's some difficult talks ahead, but what we want is very competitive performances in training and that will dictate what squad is picked for the matches.”

“Will Smith is starting to train and will be joining the group in the next couple of days which is really good, so hopefully he is only a week to ten days away.”

“We'll have to show the same resolve, effort and energy levels against a really strong team who are expansive when they get it, have good wingers who can get it out wide or come inside and cause problems with their movement and are experienced down the core with a really good Manager.

“It'll be a battle so that's why it's vital Sunday and Monday's training sessions are competitive and are gearing up to be a winner come matchday.”
