We're delighted to announce our second permanent signing of the summer, striker Danilo Orsi.
The 25-year-old joins from Maidenhead United following an impressive 2020/21 campaign with the Magpies, in which he scored over 20 goals and won their Manager's Player of the Year and Supporter's Player of the Year award.
“I'm over the moon”, Orsi said. “The chance to make the step up to the Football League and to join a team like
Harrogate Town, I've heard great things about the club and the area so I'm really happy to be here and get the deal done.
“I'm a fox in the box. I like to score goals, be busy and hard-working and try not to give defenders a moment but mainly it's getting on the end of things and putting the ball in the back of the net.”
Half Italian, half English, Orsi grew up in the Enfield/Barnet area and at 18 years-old, moved to America to play academy football for Fort Lauderdale in Florida, while studying a degree in business management.
The 25-year-old returned to England in 2018 and played for East Thurrock United and Hungerford during the 2018/19 season.
A move to Hampton and Richmond followed in the 2019/20 season and after a successful campaign, Orsi secured the step up to the National League with Maidenhead United and finished as the Magpies's top scorer for the 2020/21 season.
“It's going to be a big step up but it's something since coming back to England that I've wanted to achieve, to play in the Football League was my goal,” Orsi said.
“I know I had to work hard to get here, I'm just going to have to work doubly hard to stay here and hopefully help the team push on and have a successful season.”
Orsi is Simon Weaver's second signing of the summer and the Gaffer is looking forward to working with the attacker.
“I think he's a good overall player and yes, we have perhaps lacked that in the 18 yard box, that fox in the box in there when it matters most.
“He did superbly well predominantly playing up on his own at Maidenhead. He's a willing runner as well as being very good in the box and a really good character as well so we're excited about him signing.”
Orsi will complete his move when the transfer window opens on 1st July and wear number 11 while at the club, recently vacated by Joe Leesley who yesterday joined Boston United on a season long loan.
Welcome to the squad, Danilo!
