Jon Stead announces his retirement

8 May 2021

After 700 professional appearances and 165 goals, Jon Stead has this evening announced his retirement.

The striker made his league debut as a 19 year old in 2002 for Huddersfield Town and went on to have a magical career, spanning almost 20 years.

Stead had spells at a host of clubs including Blackburn, Sunderland, Bradford City, Notts County and most recently Harrogate Town.

The 38 year old played a key role in our National League promotion winning campaign and also started at Wembley in the FA Trophy Final in May.

We'd like to thank Jon for everything he's done for the club and congratulate him on a truly remarkable career.
