Harrogate has announced a partnership with GAMSTOP this Safer Gambling Week, the free, independent service that enables people to exclude themselves from all UK-based online gambling websites.
The partnership has been announced to coincide with Safer Gambling Week, which takes place from 1-7 November, and will see Harrogate raise awareness of the tools and resources available to those who wish to self-exclude from online gambling in a variety of ways, including:
- Sharing GAMSTOP animations and information across club social channels and the club website
- Club staff being given training on the GAMSTOP platform, and other gambling resources
More than 240,000 people from across the UK are registered with GAMSTOP, which also works closely with gambling charities.
Those who register with GAMSTOP can select a self-exclusion period of six months, one year, or five years. Anybody who contacts the service is referred to specialist advisors if they, or a loved one, need additional help and support with gambling-related issues.
This partnership underlines Harrogate's commitment to promoting safe gambling practices.
Fiona Palmer, Chief Executive of GAMSTOP, said:
“We are delighted to partner with Harrogate Town. It is especially important to us as GAMSTOP are based in Harrogate and the team and the community support they provide are extremely close to our hearts. We look forward to working with them to raise awareness of the tools and resources available to those who need them most. Gambling-related harm affects people of all ages, genders, and walks of life, and Harrogate are playing a crucial role in spreading the message of how GAMSTOP can provide a safety net to those people.”
