"I love it. It’s why I’ve been here longer than at any other club" - Muldoon pre Port Vale

17 September 2021

We've been chatting to Jack Muldoon about reaching recent milestones, playing up top with Luke Armstrong and the next match which is away at Port Vale…

On scoring 50 Town goals and making 150 Town appearances…

It means the world to me. I set out my stall at the start when I first signed wanting to reach these milestone and targets so it was very good to get to them.

Reflecting on his time at Town so far…

I love it. It's why I've been here longer than at any other club. I think the longest was two seasons but over three different teams. I love being here and it's why I signed a contract extension in the summer.
This club is more me. It's a family orientated type of club, there's no heroes and everyone is in it for each other. That's pretty much what I'm about so I've loved every minute of it.

On enjoying his strike partnership with Luke Armstrong…

Luke has been a breathe of fresh air really. He brings everything to the game in terms of what we want and how we play. He's good in the air, strong, got a good touch and knows where the goal is. He presses just as well as the rest of us which is good to see.

On whether he feels a bit of weight is off his shoulders with goals coming from all parts of the team…

Yeah I'd agree with that. I think last season I contributed to 40% of our goals so it's good for the lads to all be contributing and ultimately it's proven to help us be where we are in the league.

On our previous away trip to Port Vale…

It was a hard one to watch and not a good one for the neutrals, all the lads have said the same. It was such a strange, dull game and we're hoping to be on the front foot this weekend and really get at them with the personnel that's been brought into the club.

On the fans support this season…

They've been unbelievable and Friday night against Newport was sensational. There was over 2,500 at the game and it was really good to have them all in. They give us a massive boost and Port Vale has a big ground, we know the atmosphere will be much better than last season.
