Watch the Gaffer's pre Salford interview here…
The Gaffer reflecting on last weekend against Colchester…
When you go through the video several times like we do, there's less emotion involved because you know the outcome. I think there was a lot of good play but obviously a couple of mad moments have cost us again and I was disappointed for the lads, because they put in an honest shift as always.
There was a bit of good play on their (Colchester's) part to be fair, especially in the first goal; the pass, positioning and movement of the forward and the finish but we'd like to stop those moments in future and be better at defending that and we've worked hard in training this week.
Some of the forward play and the attacking play last week with 65% possession, there's no way we should have come away with anything less than three points, to be honest.
The Gaffer on the Jack Muldoon and Simon Power's injuries…
Muldoon is a doubt and not 100% yet, we're going to have a late fitness test on him. We had a recovery session on Monday and Simon (Power) then went to move into a more intense session and unfortunately felt his groin again.
On Salford and what's been key to their recent form…
I think Gary's settled it all down and there was no real reaction to not having the best of starts. He settles teams and he's very composed. You can see that the team has bedded in and has had time to do that and they've got a team of experienced players.
There is history with them in that they were in the Conference North as we were. They went up, then we did, they went up again and so did we. It's the same path, but completely different ways of doing it but both clubs should be proud of their progress.
On upcoming fixtures against Forest Green, Swindon and Northampton…
This is why we wanted to be at this level, to be challenged and consistently asked questions of how we can progress once we've reached this level. We're constantly trying to evolve and in particular ask questions of ourselves and how we can keep on an upward curve.
Through these tricky times of inconsistency in terms of results, we've got to look at the players. Are they fired up? Well, I think we start games generally well, so you'd like to think, yeah, there's a good, upbeat, positive outlook on things but we'll be aiming to upset the odds really. We'll know coming into these game that we will be second favourite in many people's eyes, but we love proving people wrong.
