Watch our interview with George Thomson as we preview Tuesday night's visit to Valley Parade…
Thomson on recent performances…
Up and down. I think we're looking for that consistency at the minute and obviously in the last couple of away performances, we've got ourselves in good positions, good leads and obviously we've been really disappointed to draw at Rochdale and then lose at Exeter. But attacking wise, we've been scoring goals like we always do, and it's just trying to make sure that we tighten up defensively and then the results will hopefully come.
I think there's a lot to be positive about. Like I just said, attacking wise we're flying. I think we've just got to learn and improve, and I think when we get into the situations that we've been in, we've got to be braver. That's what we've kind of spoke about. We need to have more control in the games that we've been getting leads in and that hopefully will then lead to a positive outcome at the end of the game.
On scoring goals…
I think we've been competitive in every game this season and last season, and I don't think it's ever been a problem for us as a team over the years with scoring goals, it's always been the thing that we do best. I don't think anyone can say any different. It's just at the minute we need to as a team, tighten up defensively, everybody. And like I say, the results will come.
On playing as a right wingback…
I think you've got more defensive duties. Obviously, the majority of the games I've played for the club have been at right midfield and I've usually had Fal (Fallowfield) or Woz (Burrell) behind me who you can kind of pass on a lot of the defensive stuff, too.
I think when you're right wingback, you've got both sides to think about but I've enjoyed it, to be honest. It's been a new position for me, something I've not played before but I've quite enjoyed learning it and studying it to sort of make sure that I didn't embarrass myself there but yeah, it's been good.
On looking forward to seeing a new record away following tomorrow night…
It's brilliant. A few of the lads were talking about it in the changing rooms today actually. We saw a tweet yesterday and it's brilliant. It shows that the club's still growing and we're growing as a club on the field and off the field. And that's and that's what everybody wants.
I think everyone wants to play in front of big crowds and when we first came up to League Two, I think no one can say they didn't look for when the Bradford fixture was. Obviously it was behind closed doors last year and then it got postponed this year on Boxing Day. But now it's something we can look forward to tomorrow night and I think you just kind of let the occasion take care of itself and just make sure that we play the game like we did at home.
