Watch Lewis Page's pre Barrow interview as we chat about his first Town goal, a defensive improvements and going into Saturday with confidence…
Page on his first Town goal…
I was delighted. To be honest, I haven't practiced them much this season but I did a couple in preseason with a couple mates, so it was nice to put a bit of that practice from preseason into a game.
It was perfect distance and the keeper showed a little bit of that side so it was just let's get it up and down, and lucky enough I did.
He (Thomson) was actually alright with it (taking the free-kick). We had a couple of free kicks earlier on but in wider areas and Thommo had them. As soon as I saw where the free-kick was, I said to him I fancy this one and he gave it to me. So cheers, Thommo.
On adding goal and assists to his game…
I think it's important to get the assists and get the stats up a little bit. Playing higher up in left wing back and obviously being on set pieces a bit more, that allows me to get decent deliveries into the box.
On playing as a left wing back…
I can attack the back post and get in the box from when Thommo or Fal crosses. Being higher up initially rather than starting deeper I'm able to get crosses in earlier rather than having to run 30 yards with it and then deliver and I'm enjoying it.
On how he feels we faired against Bradford…
Yeah, good. We rode the wave a little bit, allowed a bit of pressure but we scored goals at the right times, especially Jacks at the end as well, that sort of killed the game. I thought we were a lot more solid and attacking wise, I thought we had a lot of threat and got into good areas again.
On the importance of an improved defensive display…
It was important. In the games against Rochdale and Exeter we were in control really and once we scored those goals we should have - like Gaffer said - taken control and taken the sting out of the games by keeping the ball ourselves. We got a bit nervy and probably started pumping it long, trying to get out. Obviously though when we play football, we cause people a lot of problems.
On the away support…
The support was incredible and I was saying to Legge after the game it's the best I've seen, especially travelling fans. They were loud all night and out sung Bradford which is brilliant.
On confidence going into the weekend…
We can go into every game with confidence. We've shown that we can beat any team in the league. It's just about putting that consistency in now, doing things on a regular basis like taking our chances, keeping the ball out the net and doing the right things.
