We've got to shift it quickly and try to disorganise them - Simon Weaver pre Port Vale

Watch the Gaffer's pre Port Vale interview here…

The Gaffer's assessment on Saturday's 0-0 draw with Barrow…

I think it was a decent point. It's always a tricky place to travel to and the pitch wasn't great. The weather conditions wasn't bad at all first half and we played well but the second half, the wind started to blow up a bit and it made it more tricky for both sides who wanted to pass the ball. I think it's another step in the right direction though. Even if we're not at our best, we need to come away with a point.

I thought first half we were unlucky not to be a goal up because of the territory and possession we had, we were on top. We had a really good penalty shout again that went against us again but in the second half, there were a couple of instances. They hit the post twice, the bar as well and we were under siege for about ten minutes, but you've got to expect that away from home. It was good though for the confidence of the backline especially keeping a clean sheet.

On a more calm showing with the ball…

I think everybody wanted the ball and I think in the last two games we've seen that. What we've tried to do is get everyone confronting the situation and taking responsibility. You can only really do that if you give yourself space to play in. Everybody dropped off, wanted the ball and the more they're getting in the ball, the more comfortable the feeling about it. It's calming us down as a team and that's what we want to achieve.

On what Port Vale have done well in previous meetings against us…

They've been a strong and determined physical outfit that know their system and shape really well. They're experienced lads making very few errors, so they're a hard team to grind down. We've got to shift it quickly and try disorganise them by doing so and drive at them. We've got some pace in the team and we want to excite our supporters.

On being close to having a full squad to pick from…

The last few days we've been training, there's been plenty of bodies out there. We've not been able to rotate throughout the winter period and it's made it difficult. One thing for sure is when you've got bodies in the building who are fit now, it drives up the performance levels in training.

Obviously you want to man manage to the best of your abilities and look after people and motivate them, but the motivating main factor is that competition for places when they know they have got to keep on their game. We've made it clear to the lads who aren't playing at the minute or starting games that their stage is training and so they've got to come out on top Monday to Friday.

On the aim from our next two games which are both at the EnviroVent Stadium…

We just want to build on the last two games. We're two unbeaten which I know isn't a long run, but it's a trend that we want to get on. Being hard to beat, being tidier on the ball and just taking responsibility and confronting every battle that lays before us which is two big teams again coming up. Hopefully it'll be a good support again, which I'm sure there will be.

They've been fantastic, especially in recent weeks and hopefully we can be entertaining as well. Obviously we'll be wanting the points but we might have to be patient at times during the game and probe and work away at it and then come alive in the final third.
