The O's enter the match on 39 points, three clear of second place Stevenage. However, after falling to defeat against Wimbledon last time out they will be looking to bounce back quickly.

That 2-0 defeat suffered in midweek, away from home, was the first the East London side have fallen to since the beginning of October.

Previous meetings

Reflecting on previous matches, Orient hold a slight upper hand as they travel North having picked up two victories against Simon Weaver's side. The most recent of which saw the side leave Harrogate with a 3-0 victory in March of this year.

A second half double from Aaron Drinan and a goal from Ruel Sotiriou were enough to secure all three points in that one.

However, Town have also found luck in recent match ups. In August 2021, a Luke Armstrong double secured an important away victory in the opening weeks of the season.

The man in charge

Richie Wellens joined Leyton Orient in March. After playing for the likes of Manchester United, Blackpool and Leicester City, Wellens joined Oldham Athletic as Head Coach in 2017.

Since then he has managed the likes of Swindon Town, Salford City, Doncaster Rovers and Leyton Orient. In the 2019-20 season he guided Swindon Town to the title and promotion from League Two.

Ones to watch

Paul Smyth, is the leading scorer in EFL 2 for Orient having notched seven goals in 16 matches. The forward joined Orient in the summer following his departure from Queen's Park Rangers.

Winger Theo Archibald made his loan move to Orient permanent during the summer transfer window. The former Celtic and Brentford man is currently leading the way for Orient in assists having racked up four so far this season.

At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux is the league leader with 10 clean sheets so far this season. The former Liverpool and Swindon Town shot stopper joined The O's in 2020.

Recent history

Orient remain the second oldest professional club to reside in London. Formed in 1881, the side saw promotion to League One in 2006. However, in 2017 their 112-year stay in the Football League was brought to an end as they were relegated to the National League.

In August of 2019 the side secured a return to League Two where they have remained since. During this time the highest finish achieved by The O's was 11th.

Team news

Simon Weaver remains without Will Smith, Max Wright, Dior Angus and George Thomson as they continue their recovery from injury. However, Alex Pattison is expected to return having missed the midweek match through illness.
