Oxley signs contract extension!

7 May 2023

We are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Mark Oxley has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.

This agreement will see him remain a part of Simon Weaver's squad until the summer of 2025.

The 32-year-old former Southend and Hibernian stopper has registered 68 appearances between the sticks during his two seasons with the club.

Simon Weaver was pleased to secure the services of the ever-present shot stopper.

He said: “We are delighted to have Ox with us for another two seasons. He came in for the second half of the season and he has been immense. There have been several stand-out moments from him and his contribution has been crucial in us staying at this level.

“In the first half of the season he showed real patience. He was a great leader off the pitch and you could see how much he cared for the club. Personally, that means a lot to me and I am looking forward to working with him again over the next two years.”

After putting pen-to-paper, Oxley hopes for more memorable moments over the next two years.

He said: “I am really pleased to sign the new contract here with the club. I have had to be really patient and wait for my chance and thankfully since I have come in I feel like I have did alright.

“The fans have been brilliant. They have stuck with us during the difficult moments but also through the highs. I'd like to say a massive thank you to them for their support this season.”
